If your line doesn't work out, what has partner done wrong for you? :)
For example, how should partner have signalled initially with QJ653 or QJ63 or QJ3 of diamonds?
Definitely play the low diamond, as partner originally had Q3. Otherwise s/he would definitely play Q of diamonds in trick 1 - it is clear that the position is likely to require playing a heart back after the second diamond trick. (In case of doubts - I do not believe in serious partners leading Ax diamonds after such bidding).
ReplyDeleteYou've persuaded me a little -- though this would place South with a lot of diamonds, I did the silly thing of playing low on the first diamond, and then tried to encourage the heart switch with the queen next. After my low diamond (from QJxxx), West needed to find the switch to the heart king to avoid being endplayed in clubs later on the alternative low heart switch.
